The Washed Collection

Care Instructions, Decoration Tips, and Best Practices

The Washed Collection achieves its distinctive, lived-in look through specialized dye and wash processes. These techniques create intentional variations in texture, shade, and distressing, making each garment unique. These natural differences from piece to piece are by design.

Care Instructions

It is essential to follow the recommended care instructions to prevent dye transfer or fading. Wash with cold water and like colors to prevent dye transfer and avoid contact with light-colored fabrics and surfaces.

Decoration Method Tips & Best Practices
All Methods
  • Always follow care instructions for washing.
  • Pre-wash if possible.
  • Set realistic expectations around garment performance and lean into the natural characteristics of the garment in designing decoration.
Screen Print
  • Use low-cure plastisol or water-based inks designed for bleed resistance.
  • Avoid excessive flash heat.
  • Test for color lift on white ink under base.
Direct to Garment (DTG)
  • Pre-treat carefully; uneven absorption may cause blotchy prints.
  • Prewash to remove residual dye.
  • Cure at lower temps if possible.
Direct to Film (DTF)
  • Use lower temp transfers (i.e., stay under 300°F on press).
Embroidery
  • Use a bleed-resistant stabilizer, migration resistant polyester thread, or match thread to garment tones.
Discharge Print
  • Proceed with caution.
  • Lean into the unpredictability here.
